Dubai Expands EV Charging Network With New Ultrafast Hub for Electric Taxis

Charge 24 Electric Taxis in Just 35 Minutes—Dubai Makes It Reality
[Dubai's Clean Mobility Vision Gains Momentum With New Ultrafast EV Hub]

Dubai has taken another significant step toward accelerating electric mobility with the launch of the first phase of a dedicated ultrafast EV charging hub for taxis. The new facility, officially inaugurated on Thursday, July 9, 2026, is a joint initiative by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) and is designed to support the rapid electrification of Dubai's commercial transport sector.

Situated at DTC's headquarters in Muhaisnah 4, the hub reinforces Dubai's strategy to integrate clean energy with modern transportation infrastructure while reducing emissions from one of the city's busiest mobility services.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • DEWA and Dubai Taxi Company inaugurated Dubai's first dedicated ultrafast EV charging hub for taxis on July 9, 2026.
  • Located at DTC headquarters in Muhaisnah 4, the facility can charge 24 electric vehicles simultaneously.
  • Each charger delivers up to 360kW, allowing a full recharge in around 35 minutes.
  • The project marks the first phase of a wider rollout of more than 200 ultrafast charging points for DTC's electric fleet.
  • DTC currently operates around 440 electric taxis and limousines under an EV maintenance partnership signed in April 2026.
  • The expansion supports Dubai's sustainability goals while following DTC's strong 2025 financial performance, with net profit rising 7% to Dh356.1 million.

Inside Dubai's New Ultrafast Charging Hub

The newly opened charging hub has the capacity to charge up to 24 electric vehicles at the same time, significantly reducing vehicle downtime for taxi operators.

Each charging point is equipped with a next-generation 360kW ultrafast charger, enabling compatible electric taxis to recharge in approximately 35 minutes. The high-power infrastructure is expected to improve fleet availability while supporting the growing demand for electric commercial transport across the emirate.

The project represents one of Dubai's most advanced charging facilities dedicated exclusively to an electric taxi fleet.

Part of a Larger 200+ Station Rollout

The Muhaisnah 4 facility is only the beginning of a much broader infrastructure programme.

Under an agreement between DEWA and Dubai Taxi Company, the two organisations plan to deploy more than 200 ultrafast EV charging points dedicated to DTC's electric taxi operations.

The wider rollout is expected to strengthen charging accessibility for commercial EVs while supporting Dubai's long-term objective of building a reliable, citywide charging ecosystem.

DTC's Electric Fleet Growth and Financial Performance

Dubai Taxi Company has continued expanding its electric mobility operations alongside its broader fleet growth.

In April 2026, the company signed a partnership with Electric Vehicle Services (EVS) to provide maintenance for its fleet of around 440 electric vehicles, including both taxis and limousines.

The company's investment in expanding its taxi, limousine and delivery bike operations throughout 2025 also translated into stronger financial results. DTC reported a 7% increase in net profit, reaching Dh356.1 million in 2025 compared with Dh331.3 million a year earlier.

What DEWA and DTC Leadership Said

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, said the authority remains committed to expanding advanced EV charging infrastructure that delivers reliable charging services while helping reduce carbon emissions, improve air quality and accelerate the transition toward environmentally friendly transportation. He also commended Dubai Taxi Company for its continued commitment to electrifying its fleet.

Mansoor Rahma Alfalasi, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Taxi Company, described the project as the first phase of a larger network of more than 200 charging stations dedicated to DTC's electric fleet. He said the initiative supports Dubai's ambition to become a global leader in sustainable mobility while accelerating the transition toward cleaner commercial transportation.

Dubai's Push Toward Sustainable Mobility

The new charging hub highlights the growing collaboration between Dubai's energy and transportation sectors as the emirate continues investing in low-carbon infrastructure.

By combining high-capacity charging technology with the ongoing expansion of electric taxi operations, Dubai aims to strengthen its clean mobility ecosystem while supporting wider sustainability and climate objectives.

What Comes Next

With the first ultrafast charging hub now operational, attention shifts to the next stages of the rollout. As additional charging sites are deployed under the DEWA-DTC partnership, Dubai is expected to further expand charging access for its electric taxi fleet, helping accelerate the city's transition toward a cleaner, smarter and more sustainable transport network.
